Ak, ja vien būtu tāds burvju dzēriens, kas atvērtu skaistās Adīnas acis un ļautu viņai saskatīt Nemorīno mīlestību! Ceļojošā tirgoņa Dulkamaras krājumos vajadzīgais atrodas, tomēr dzēriena radītais efekts nav gluži tāds, kādu Nemorīno vēlētos. Jautrie pārpratumi operā liek secināt, ka patiesa mīlestība ir debešķīgs spēks, kas pārvar visus šķēršļus.  

Gaetāno Doniceti komiskās operas Mīlas dzēriens pirmizrāde notika1832. gadā Milānā. Latvijas Nacionālajā operā šī opera tiek iestudēta trešo reizi.

Nemorino is madly in love with Adina, but cannot muster up the courage to confess his feelings. Oh, if only there were a magic potion that would open the eyes of beautiful Adina and let her see Nemorino's love! The traveling merchant Dulkamaras has what he needs in his stock, but the effect created by the drink is not quite what Nemorino would like. The funny misunderstandings in the opera lead to the conclusion that true love is a heavenly force that overcomes all obstacles.  

Gaetano Donizetti's comic opera  The Drink of Love premiered in 1832. in Milan. This opera is staged for the third time at the Latvian National Opera.
