Melodramma giocoso, «веселая мелодрама» – так определил жанр оперы «Любовный напиток» ее автор Гаэтано Доницетти. В ней тесно соседствуют лирические эпизоды и буффонада. Именно в «Любовном напитке» звучит одна из самых популярных в мире арий – романс Неморино Una furtiva lagrima. Вы легко вспомните его, если видели фильм Никиты Михалкова «Неоконченная пьеса для механического пианино». Справедливости ради скажем, что написан этот романс был задолго до сочинения оперы. В один прекрасный день Доницетти понял, что эту музыку нужно отдать главному герою «Любовного напитка», и не прогадал. Прекрасная мелодия стала завершающим штрихом в процессе создания шедевра бельканто.

Опера начинается с классической любовной коллизии: Неморино влюблен в деревенскую красавицу Адину, а она не отвечает на его чувства взаимностью. Появление бравого сержанта Белькоре и лекаря-шарлатана Дулькамары закручивает пружину интриги. Череда веселых недоразумений приводит героев оперы к счастливому финалу.

Постановка Людмилы Налетовой, впервые сыгранная почти четверть века назад, – долгожитель московской оперной сцены. За прошедшие с момента премьеры годы сменилось несколько составов исполнителей, но неизменной остается любовь зрителей к этой жизнерадостной солнечной опере.

Melodramma giocoso, “cheerful melodrama” - this is how the genre of the opera “Elisir of Love” was defined by its author Gaetano Donizetti. It closely coexists with lyrical episodes and buffoonery. It is in “The Elixir of Love” that one of the most popular arias in the world sounds - Nemorino’s romance Una furtiva lagrima . You will easily remember it if you have seen Nikita Mikhalkov’s film “Unfinished Piece for Mechanical Piano”. To be fair, let’s say that this romance was written long before the opera was composed. One fine day, Donizetti realized that this music should be given to the main character of “Elisir of Love,” and he was right. A beautiful melody was the final touch in the process of creating a bel canto masterpiece.

The opera begins with a classic love conflict: Nemorino is in love with the village beauty Adina, but she does not reciprocate his feelings. The appearance of the brave sergeant Belcore and the charlatan doctor Dulcamara tightens the spring of intrigue. A series of funny misunderstandings leads the opera's heroes to a happy ending.

Lyudmila Naletova's production, first performed almost a quarter of a century ago, is a long-liver on the Moscow opera stage. Over the years since the premiere, several casts of performers have changed, but the audience's love for this cheerful sunny opera remains unchanged.
