This work made its creator immortal! Certainly: Georg Friedrich Handel wrote “The Messiah” in 1741 for performances for charitable purposes, which repeatedly spread his fame. The oratorio itself, however, contains an abundance of beautiful, catchy arias and wonderful, even popular choirs, which culminate in the splendid “Hallelujah!”. In three parts, the text looks at key events from the life of Christ and describes their effects on salvation history. Well-known soloists can be heard at this performance, and the Frankfurter Kantorei sings under the direction of their long-time conductor Winfrid Toll.
