The first work to mark the Gluckist reform, first in Italian in Vienna in 1762, then in French in Paris in 1774 with a high-counter voice, Orpheus and Eurydice is the symbol of classical art . We carry the pain of the double loss of a loved one. The first is a matter of destiny, but the second shows the weakness of man who did not trust the gods and lost himself.

Orpheus, who inherits his art from Apollo himself, offers us a sublime song. The superb and overwhelming arias follow one another with perfect balance and take us into the torment of the grieving soul. This excellence will find a dramatic resonance even in the romantic 19th century . Franz Liszt will write a symphonic poem on Orpheus and Hector Berlioz will adapt the myth set to music by Gluck for the Théâtre-Lyrique.

It is this version that we present on our stage in a superb co-production with several major European theatres. The opportunity to relive with all the passion that imposes an eternal and always current myth .

Premier ouvrage à marquer la réforme gluckiste, d’abord en italien à Vienne en 1762, puis en français à Paris en 1774 avec une voix de haute-contre, Orphée et Eurydice est le symbole de l’art classique. On y porte la douleur de la double perte de l’être cher. La première est affaire de destin, mais la seconde montre la faiblesse de l’homme qui n’a pas fait confiance aux dieux et s’est perdu lui-même.

Orphée, qui détient son art d’Apollon lui-même, nous offre un chant sublime. Les airs superbes et bouleversants s’enchaînent avec un équilibre parfait et nous emportent dans le tourment de l’âme en deuil. Cette excellence trouvera une résonance dramatique jusque dans le romantique XIXe siècle. Franz Liszt écrira un poème symphonique sur Orphée et Hector Berlioz adaptera pour le Théâtre-Lyrique le mythe mis en musique par Gluck.

C’est cette version que nous présentons sur notre scène dans une superbe coproduction avec plusieurs grands théâtres européens. L’occasion de revivre avec toute la passion qui s’impose un mythe éternel et toujours actuel.
