A sea beautiful and terrifying, so truly reflecting the storms in the human soul and ruling the lives of the people associated with it. People like the fisherman Peter Grimes, who tries in vain to change their lives, but constantly, due to their nature, come across the rejection of the other inhabitants of the fishing village. The situation is exacerbated by the death of his disciple, which raises a number of questions. Was it really an accident or is Grimes directly involved? Most people in Borough do not believe in Grimes' innocence, and the unfortunate death of another disciple leads to the inevitable tragedy. The English poet George Crabbe and the composer Bejamin Britten loved the sea. Both grew up on the Suffolk coast, and the fates of the people from the fishing villages became the inspiration for Crabbe's collection of poems. In it, Britten found a story for his first opera, Peter Grimes. He captured in it not only the life of the town and its diverse community, but above all his beloved sea, with which the main character Peter Grimes is connected to life and death. He depicted him in four beautiful orchestral interludes capturing the dawn or the reflection of the moonlight on the water surface. Britten's Peter Grimes had his Czechoslovak premiere in Brno in June 1947, now returns after almost 75 years, so that after the successful staging of Juliette / human voice became another project of a great team of conductor Marko Ivanović, director David Radok, soprano Jane Šrejma Kačírková and Swedish tenor Joachim Bäckström in the title role.

Moře krásné i děsivé, tak pravdivě zrcadlící bouře v lidské duši a vládnoucí životům lidí, jež jsou s ním spojeni. Lidí, jako je rybář Peter Grimes, který se marně snaží změnit svůj život, ale neustále naráží díky své povaze na odmítání ostatních obyvatel rybářské vesničky. Situaci ještě zhorší smrt jeho učedníka, nad níž se vznáší řada otázek. Byla to skutečně nehoda nebo má na ní Grimes přímý podíl? Většina lidí z městečka Borough v Grimesovu nevinu nevěří a nešťastná smrt dalšího učedníka tak vede k nevyhnutelné tragédii. Anglický básník George Crabbe i skladatel Bejamin Britten milovali moře. Oba vyrůstali na pobřeží Suffolku a osudy lidí z rybářských osad se staly inspirací pro Crabbeho sbírku básní. V ní Britten našel příběh pro svou první operu Peter Grimes. Zachytil v ní nejen život městečka a jeho různorodé společenstvo, ale především své milované moře, s nímž je hlavní postava Petera Grimese spjata na život a na smrt. Vyobrazil ho ve čtyřech nádherných orchestrálních mezihrách zachycujících svítání či odraz měsíčního svitu na vodní hladině. Brittenův Peter Grimes měl svou československou premiéru právě v Brně v červnu 1947, teď se vrací po téměř 75 letech, aby se po úspěšné inscenaci Juliette / Lidský hlas stal dalším projektem skvělého týmu dirigenta Marko Ivanoviće, režiséra Davida Radoka, sopranistky Jany Šrejma Kačírkové a švédského tenoristy Joachima Bäckströma  v titulní roli.

Das Meer ist schön, aber auch furchterregend, damit spiegelt es getreu die Stürme in der menschlichen Seele wider und beherrscht die Menschen, die mit ihm verbunden sind. Menschen wie etwa der Fischer Peter Grimes, der vergeblich versucht, sein Leben zu verändern, aber durch seine Wesensart ständig auf die Ablehnung der übrigen Einwohner des Fischerdorfes trifft. Seine Lage wird noch schlimmer durch den Tod seines Lehrlings, der eine Reihe von Fragen aufwirft. War es wirklich nur ein Unfall, oder war Grimes direkt beteiligt? Brittens Oper Peter Grimes hatte ihre tschechoslowakische Premiere im Juni 1947 gerade in Brünn, nach fast 75 Jahren kehrt sie nunmehr hierher zurück und ist nach der erfolgreichen Inszenierung Juliette / Die menschliche Stimme ein weiteres Projekt des fantastischen Teams aus Dirigent Marko Ivanović, Regisseur David Radok, der Sopranistin Jana Šrejma Kačírková und dem schwedischen Tenor Joachim Bäckström in der Titelrolle.
