C’est à la toute fin de sa vie que Felix Mendelssohn compose son dernier quatuor, comme un hommage à sa sœur Fanny, elle aussi compositrice méconnue. Le quatuor de Chostakovitch comporte lui aussi un message : le DSCH, c’est-à-dire sa propre signature en musique. « Je me suis dit qu’après ma mort, personne sans doute ne composerait d’œuvre à ma mémoire. J’ai donc résolu d’en composer une moi-même… », confie-t-il à ses proches. Diana Soh s’inscrit dans cette histoire du quatuor avec une œuvre poétique et intense.
