The Austrian Musicbanda Franui sees itself as a »transformer between classical, folk music, jazz and contemporary chamber music« . And in order to release the energy that is created in Stuttgart, Franui has dealt with the biggest hits of the "silver operetta" - those works whose composers were expelled by the National Socialists. Exile and being lost, dreams and hopes connect the fates of composers like Paul Abraham with the characters from Joseph Roth's novel Hotel Savoy. Stranded existences, soldiers, bankrupts, bad and other profiteers, real and fake artists and prostitutes have settled in the eponymous hotel and are waiting for the arrival of the hotel owner Bloomfield from America - like for the Messiah. But Bloomfield has something completely different in mind with his visit than rescuing the hotel or its guests... From scenes from the novel and the operetta hits recomposed by Franui, director Corinna von Rad creates a story about true and false dreams and about the blue in sky-blue .

Als »Umspannwerk zwischen Klassik, Volksmusik, Jazz und zeitgenössischer Kammermusik« versteht sich die österreichische Musicbanda Franui. Und um die Energie, die dabei entsteht, in Stuttgart freizusetzen, hat sich Franui mit den größten Hits der »silbernen Operette« beschäftigt – jenen Werken also, deren Komponist*innen von den Nationalsozialisten vertrieben wurden. Exil und Verlorenheit, Träume und Hoffnungen verbinden die Lebensschicksale von Komponisten wie Paul Abraham mit den Figuren aus Joseph Roths Roman Hotel Savoy. Gestrandete Existenzen, Soldaten, Bankrotteure, üble und andere Profiteure, echte und unechte Künstler*innen sowie Prostituierte haben sich in dem titelgebenden Hotel niedergelassen und warten auf die Ankunft des Hotelbesitzers Bloomfield aus Amerika – wie auf den Messias. Aber Bloomfield hat mit seinem Besuch etwas ganz anderes im Sinn als die Rettung des Hotels oder seiner Gäste … Aus Szenen des Romans und den von Franui re-komponierten Operettenschlagern kreiert Regisseurin Corinna von Rad eine Geschichte über wahre und falsche Träume und über das Blau in Himmelblau.
