Madama Butterfly Puccini

The first premiere of the new creative season will be of "Madamа Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini.  One of the most moving images in Puccini's oeuvre – that of the little Japanese woman Cio-cio-san – moves the spectators with the power of love and hope. Puccini's perfect music tells of the far eastern world and its traditions.

In this artistic season we mark the 165th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini's birth and the 100th anniversary of his death. The Sofia Opera will join the world's most prestigious theatres in celebrating these two anniversaries.

On 17 November the main roles will be performed by Iordanka Derilova, Rosen Nenchev and Kiril Manolov, and the conductor is Andrey Galanov. The production is the work of a South Korean team, which has already offered its vision during the summer festival in Belogradchik.

In this artistic season we mark the 165th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini's birth and the 100th anniversary of his death. The Sofia Opera will join the world's most prestigious theatres in celebrating these two anniversaries.

In the repertoire of the Sofia Opera all Puccini's operas have been performed except the early "Le Villi", "Edgar" and "La Rondine".

A lover of technology, fast cars and motor boats, close friends with Thomas Edison and an avid hunter, Giacomo Puccini was one of the great masters of Italian opera. He established the Verismo movement and created extraordinary stage images set to haunting music. A number of his operas have been filmed, some of them have been performed in real time at the actual locations where the action unfolds, and the composer's life has been told in several films.

2024 also marks the 100th anniversary of the first performance of "Madama Butterfly" at the Sofia Opera.

Първата премиера за новия творчески сезон ще бъде на „Мадам Бътерфлай“ от Джакомо Пучини.  Един от най-вълнуващите образи в творчеството на Пучини – този на малката японка Чо-чо-сан – трогва зрителите със силата на любовта и надеждата. Съвършената музика на Пучини разказва за далечния източен свят и неговите традиции.

През този творчески сезон се отбелязват 165 години от рождението и 100 години от смъртта на Джакомо Пучини. Софийската опера ще се присъедини към най-престижните театри в света, които тържествено ще отбележат тези две годишнини. 

На 17 ноември в главните роли ще бъдат Йорданка Дерилова, Росен Ненчев и Кирил Манолов, а диригент е Андрей Галанов. Постановката е дело на южнокорейски екип, който вече предложи своята визия по време на летния фестивал в Белоградчик.

През 2024 г. се навършват и 100 години от първото изпълнение на „Мадам Бътерфлай“ в Софийската опера.
