Simon Boccanegra, doge of Genoa, finds his daughter, who has been missing for twenty-five years, in the house of his enemy Fiesco. Between the conflicts that plague the country and the misunderstandings that reign between those who surround him, the doge’s life is at risk. As he lays dying after being poisoned, the doge explains to all that Amelia is both his daughter and Fiesco’s granddaughter, easing tensions. He designates Gabriele, his daughter’s lover, as his successor, before he falls asleep forever.
