The bon vivant Harry Bronson cheats on his fiancee and pays for it with his inheritance: his father Ichabond has caught him and shortly afterwards decides to bequeath all his money to Violet Gray, a kind-hearted girl from the Salvation Army and daughter of an old friend. Violet doesn't think that's fair though - she wants Harry to have the fortune that is his due and hatches a daring plan.

The t f n now brings this operetta rarity to new life in a concert performance, bringing the work closer to the composer's birthplace: Gustave Adolph Kerker was born in Herford in 1857 and only emigrated to America with his family at the age of ten. Beginning his career as a cellist and conductor, he composed numerous successful operettas and musicals throughout his life.
