"Turandot" is a 3-act opera composed by Giacomo Puccini, based on a libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni, based on a play by Friedrich Schiller, based on a Persian fairy tale included in Carlo Gozzi's "1001 Days" collection. XVIII). The score, which Puccini left unfinished, was completed by Franco Alfano. The world premiere took place on April 25, 1926 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, under the baton of Arturo Toscanini. During the inaugural concert, at one point, the conductor paused at the place where Puccini had composed and said, "At that moment, the master put down the pen." After a moment's silence in the hall, from the balcony was heard: "Viva Puccini!" followed by applause from the audience.
