For the first time in the world, Selmeczi can be seen on the Main Stage of the Miskolc Theater The seventh opera by György Kossuth and Erkel Prize-winning composer, which is a pure one a soulful maid and a poet in a bachelor dress based on a lie, yet true tells the story of his love at the dawn of the dawn of World War I. In Cluj-Napoca. The play was performed by Sándor Hunyady in Bakaruhu. inspired by his short story, which the Imre Fehér film of the same title, released in 1957, made him immortal.

The sad talk of the premiere is that this work was written by Géza Szőcs. his last job before his death in November 2020. The Kossuth and József Attila Prize winners poet’s poems take the realist story out of the short story out of poetry raised into the world. A concept based on strong irrationality in music it is fulfilled: from the light music typical of the age, it has the spirit of Kodály and Bartók through intonations and melodies evoking Kurt Weill’s Pucciniian operas textures reveal many colors and dimensions that are peasant and bourgeois form a bridge between the two worlds of culture.

The production was created in collaboration with the Hungarian Opera in Cluj-Napoca.
