Pärt’s compellingly beautiful music has reached wide audiences through ECM label this concert offers a rare chance to hear Lamentate, his dramatic ritual for piano and orchestra, as well as the enduringly popular and meditative violin solo Spiegel im Spiegel. 


Eminent conductor Sian Edwards continues with Sibelius’ sweeping second symphony, reflective of Nordic light and snowy mountains. It was a beacon for Finnish independence as well as personal liberation: ‘My second symphony is a confession of the soul,’ he wrote, and it’s become one of Sibelius’s most loved works.
