He began his formal singing studies at the age of 23 under the mentorship of renowned Mexican tenor Alfredo Portilla at the Faculty of Music of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City, following his studies in Architecture. Gutiérrez has since continued to develop his vocal technique through lessons and Masterclasses with esteemed opera singers and coaches such as César Ulloa, Emilio Pons, Jennifer Rowley, Brian Jadge, and many more. He has also worked with notable conductors including Marzio Conti, Stephan Veselka, and Rodrigo Macías. In 2019, Raúl emerged as the winner of the “XXX Francisco Araiza Competition” at UNAM, granting him the opportunity to work with tenor Francisco Araiza at the European Music Ins
