Biography
The in Frankfurt a. Mezzo-soprano Sophie Wenzel, born in M., has been singing with great passion since her early childhood. She especially loves to touch her audience deeply with her voice and the wonderfully set stories. During her master’s degree at the HfMDK Frankfurt a. M. with Prof. Thomas Heyer, she discovered her love for the song repertoire in addition to the opera. The intensive collaboration with Helmut Deutsch, with whom she is still closely connected to this day, was particularly formative. The singer expresses her fascination for language and its complex amalgamation with music in regular recitals with pianist Angelika Nebel and pianist Hedayet Djeddikar, among others. She first demonstrated her stage talent in 2015 as Dorabella in a production by the Junge Oper Rhein-Main. A
