Dr. Talia Amar est compositrice et pianiste d'origine israélienne née en 1989. Elle a été décrite par David Schulenberg (The Boston Musical Intelligencer) comme “un maître compositeur … (elle) a une oreille fine pour les sonorités ainsi qu'une  technique de composition sûre”.

Talia a débuté  le piano à l'âge de 6 ans chez Mme Luisa Yofé et la composition à l'âge de 14 ans avec le compositeur de renom Mark Kopytman.Elle a obtenu un  B.M de composition de l'Académie de Musique et de Danse de Jérusalem dans la classe du Prof. Ari Ben Shabtaï et du Prof. Ynam Leef. Parallèlement elle a aussi terminé  avec félicitations le programme de piano à l'Académie de Musique Buchman-Mehta de Tel Aviv dans la classe du Prof. Emanuel Krassovsky. Talia est titulaire d'un M.Mus. de la « Mannes College of Music » à New York dans la classe de composition de Mario Davidovsky et dans celle de Victor Rosenbaum en piano.

Son PhD. a été obtenu avec félicitations à l'université de Brandeis (USA) sous la guidance de David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow et

Yu-Hui Chang. C'est dans cette université qu'elle a obtenu un prix «Outstanding Teaching Fellow award» pour l'année 2015 -2016 et la bourse de «Irving G. fine Fellowship in Music Composition» pour les années 2016-2017 et 2017-2018.

Talia a reçu de nombreux prix internationaux de composition tels que le prestigieux prix du Premier Ministre Israélien (2018), le prix Acum (2019), le prix Rosenblum décerné par la municipalité de Tel Aviv et récompensant un artiste prometteur (2016), le prix Klone décerné par la Ligue Israélienne des compositeurs, le prix du concours CIRCE (USA, 2013), le prix du Festival London Ear (2013), celui de North-South Consonance de New York (2010) et le prix du concours international de composition Music Prize for Excellence de la Grèce (2009) où elle a reçu le titre de « Honorary Associate of the National Academy of Music in Greece ».

Elle a bénéficié de la bouse d'étude de la fondation America-Israël pendant des années consécutives en piano et en composition (avec félicitations). Elle a été choisi pour être  la compositrice en résidence de l'ensemble Collage New Music pour l'année 2015-2016.

Son quatuor à corde  “Obession” a été choisi par Maestro Lorin Maazel en personne pour figurer au programme du festival Castelton.

Ses compositions sont régulièrement jouées  et diffusées  à travers le monde: en France, Usa, Israël, Belgique, Australie, Philippines, Grèce, Italie, Allemagne, Angleterre, Nouvelle-Zélande, Canada, Malte et en Suède. Ce sont des ensembles de renom qui l'interprètent comme l'Ensemble Itinéraire, l'ensemble Meitar, Les Cris de Paris, ICE, Standing Waves, Yarn/Wire, Collage new Music, Atar Trio, l'Ensemble Recherche du MIDI, Uroboros Ensemble, l'ensemble Israël 21 Contemporary Players, Lydian String quartet, North-South Consonance.

Ses morceaux ont figuré au programme de nombreux festivals internationaux comme celui de Vox Feminae (Israël), ISCM World New Music (Canada), Asian Composers League Festival (Taiwan), New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Bernstein festival, Castelton festival, festival of the Creative Arts, London Ear festival et Visible sound Congress (Israël).

Talia a participé à des master class de composition au  CNSMDP avec  Michaël Levinas, à l'Abbeye de Royaumont sous la guidance de Brian Ferneyhough,Hector Parra et Marc André, au cours Contemporary Encounters à Tel Aviv avec Philippe Leroux et Georg Friedrich Haas, à la conférence Matrix on Tour à Montréal avec Detlef Heusinger et Daniel Biro, au cours ManiFeste de l'Ircam à Paris, à SoudSCAPE (Italie) ,à l'Ircam Workshop de l'université de Boston et à la Composers Conference au collège de Wellesley dirigé par Mario Davidovsky.

En tant que pianiste, Talia a été soliste en France avec l'orchestre Lamoureux sous la baguette Pierre André Valade, aux Usa sous la baguette de Eli Yafé et en Israël avec l'orchestre Symphonique de Jérusalem ,l'orchestre Symphonette Raanana, l'orchestre de Chambre d'Israël et l'orchestre symphonique de Rishon LeZion.

Elle a participé aux masterclass de pianistes de renom tels que  Murray Perahia, Nikolaï Petrov, Jérôme Rose, Richard Goode et Victor Rosenbaum. Elle a aussi participé au séminaire de piano de Tel haï où elle y a obtenu les félicitations ainsi qu'une bouse d'études.

Elle donne régulièrement des concerts de musique de chambre où elle interprète ses propres œuvres ainsi qu'un répertoire très varié.

Depuis 2017, Talia fait partie du corps enseignant de l'Académie de Musique et de Danse de Jérusalem en Israël.

Dr. Talia Amar is an Israeli composer and pianist. Described as “a master composer… (she) has a fine ear for sound as well as sure compositional technique” (David Schulenberg, The Boston Musical Intelligencer), she is the recipient of many international awards including the Prime Minister prestigious award 2018, The Acum award 2019, The Rosenblum Prize for Promising Young Artist 2016 by the Tel Aviv Municipality ,the Klon Award for young composers granted by the Israeli Composers League, CIRCE Composition Competition, London Ear Festival, North-South Consonance Composition Competition, International Music Prize for Excellence in Composition, and she also has consecutively been awarded scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation both in piano and composition (with honors). Her string quartet “Obsession” was featured in Castleton Festival after being hand selected by Maestro Lorin Maazel. She was selected to be the Composer Fellow of Collage New Music for 2015-2016.

Her compositions have been performed in France, Canada, Belgium, Norway, Australia, Philippines, Taiwan, Germany, USA, England, Greece, Italy and Israel by ensembles such as: ICE, Itinéraire Ensemble, Standing Waves, Yarn/Wire, Collage New Music, Lydian String Quartet, North-South Consonance, Meitar Ensemble, Israel Contemporary Players, Les Cris de Paris, Atar trio, Ensemble Recherche du Midi, and Uroboros Ensemble.

She was selected to represent Israel in different festivals such as ISCM World New Music in Vancouver, ECCO Festival in Brussels, and Asian Composers League Festival in Taiwan. Additionally, her pieces were performed in Festival Présences, Vox Feminae Festival, New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Bernstein Festival of the Creative Arts, CEME Festival, Castleton Festival, London Ear Festival, and Visible Sounds Congress.

She participated in various classes such as analysis classes at the Conservatoire National Superieur De Musique Et De Danse de Paris, the Royaumont composition course at the Royaumont Abbey in France, Contemporary Encounters in Tel-Aviv, the conference Matrix on Tour in Montreal, IRCAM ManiFeste, soundSCAPE, the IRCAM workshop at Boston University with Grégoire Lorieux, and the Composers Conference at Wellesley College guided by Mario Davidovsky.

She has attended master classes in composition with renowned composers such as Brian Ferneyhough, Hèctor Parra, Detlef Heusinger, Marc André, Philippe Leroux, Georg Friedrich Haas, and Michael Lévinas.

As a pianist, Talia has performed as soloist in Israel, France and USA with the following orchestras: Lamoureux Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, Raanana Symphonette Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra, and Rishon Letsion Orchestra. She has participated in master classes with Murray Perahia, Nikolai Petrov, Jerome Rose, and Richard Goode. She participated at the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes where she won a distinction prize and a fellowship.

Talia began studying piano at the age of 6 with Mrs. Luisa Yoffe and composition at the age of 14 with renowned composer Prof. Mark Kopytman. She earned her B.M. in composition with honors under the guidance of Prof. Ari Ben-Shabetai and Prof. Yinam Leef at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. She completed her piano program with honors with Prof. Emanuel Krasovsky at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel-Aviv University. She earned her M.M. at the Mannes College of Music in NYC with Prof. Mario Davidovsky in composition and Prof. Victor Rosenbaum in piano. She earned her PhD at Brandeis University where her instructors included David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow, and Yu-Hui Chang. She was awarded an Outstanding Teaching Fellow Award for 2015-16 and have been named the recipient of the Irving G. Fine Fellowship in Music Composition for the 2016-17 and 2017-2018 academic years. She was also selected as one of this year’s recipients of the Sandy Fisher Prize for Exceptional Achievement in the Creative Arts at Brandeis University.

Since 2017, Talia joined the composition faculty at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Israel where she is also the Head of Technology and Innovation. Talia is a council member of the Israeli Composers League and the electronics performer of Meitar Ensemble.
