THOMAS MURPHY, was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As an Academic Fellow and Associate Instructor, he received his Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Indiana University School of Music where he studied with the acclaimed Margaret Harshaw. As a Rotary International Graduate scholarship winner, he attended the Opera Studio in Basel, Switzerland. Participated in Master classes with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, José van Dam, James King, and continued his vocal training with world-renowned Swedish tenor Nicolai Gedda. As a member of the Basel Opera Theater, Thomas Murphy performed in numerous operas including Il Trovatore, Manon Lescaut, La Traviata, Salome, Ariadne auf Naxos, Boris Godunov, Wozzeck, Tristan und Iso
