Trevor Pinnock and the Basel Chamber Orchestra began both halves of the concert with a reference to Bach. At the beginning there was Reger's orchestral version of “O Mensch weein Dein 'Sünde large” - solemn, simple, solemn, romantic-slow, with fine dynamic tuning, in gentle waves of increase, but not overly sweetish.
