Biography
Lyric soprano Verity Wingate joined the Opera Studio at the Dutch National Opera after her guest appearance as Elisetta in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto in April 2019. She joined the studio in September and sang the role of Anna in Nabucco alongside Anna Pirozzi as Abigaille. The world premiere of Willem Jeths’ opera Ritratto, in which Verity takes the lead role of Italian socialite Luisa Casati Stampa di Soncino, was scheduled for mid-March 2020 as part of the Opera Forward Festival. After being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the performances finally took place in October 2020. The recording of the dress rehearsal of Ritratto was selected as BBC Music Magazine’s Opera Choice for February 2021. Following her debut as Luisa Casati, Verity was awarded 2nd Prize and an engagement
