Canadian Zwischenfach, Jay Marchand Knight’s recent performances include Nurse Filipyevan in Eugene Onegin with Opera Queens, Denise in Jason Noble’s opera Denise, Don Jose in a genderbent Carmen with Opera Queens, and Sara in Parisa Sabet’s Vanishing Point, commissioned by Musique 3 Femmes. Jay also performs and composes with RISE Opera, an experimental project that explores human relationships to crises. Passionate about equity in opera and choir, Jay’s musical creations explore ways to make formal singing accessible to those who have been traditionally excluded from these spheres. Jay is Frederick Lowy Fellow at Concordia University, where they study vocal timbre and gender perception in the Deroche Laboratory for Hearing and Cognition.
