Biography
Born in Uruguay, and of Italian origin, tenor Leonardo Ferrando stands out in the belcanto repertoire for his musicality, fine phrasing and impressive high register. His operatic highlights include the roles of Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola), Comte Ory, Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Carlo (Linda di Chamounix), Arturo (I puritani), Orombello (Beatrice di Tenda), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Ferrando (Così fan tutte), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Gérald (Lakmé), Tammu (Babylon, the contemporary opera composed by J Widmann), as well as leading roles in rare bel canto operas.
